CUET UG: A Comprehensive Guide from Application to Admission


Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG)

It refers to a specific entrance exam for undergraduate programs. These exams are typically used to assess the academic capabilities of students seeking admission to undergraduate courses in various disciplines. The National Testing Agency administers the test (NTA). NTA's responsibilities are limited to candidate registration, test administration, answer key hosting, challenge invitations, answer key finalization, result preparation and announcement, and scorecard hosting. The universities that participate create a merit list.

Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) Application Process

    • Registration Form The candidates need to register for the online application form and note down the system-generated Application Number. They are also required to create a password, choose a Security Question, and enter their answer.

    • Application Form — To finish the application form, candidates can log in using the pre-created password and application number generated by the system.

    • Upload scanned images of the candidate’s photograph and signature.

    • Fee PaymentThe candidates must pay the requisite examination fee. The only ways to pay for the fee are online via UPI, credit card, debit card, or net banking. The online application form's confirmation page won't appear until the candidate has successfully made their fee payment.

Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) Eligibility

    • There is no age limit for the candidates. However, they will be required to fulfill the age criteria (if any) of the university/institution to which they are desirous of applying.
    • Candidates who have passed the class 12 /equivalent examination or are appearing in the year of the exam can also apply.

Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) Admit Card

Candidates can obtain their provisional e-Admit Cards via the NTA website, provided they meet the qualifying requirements and the NTA receives the required application cost. The Admit Card must be downloaded by the candidate from the NTA website. On the day, shift, and time specified in their electronic admit card, they will show up for the exam at the designated center.

Choice of exam city While applying, candidates have to select any four cities of their choice. Choice of centre cities will be limited to the state of permanent address or state of present address only.
Exam Details Depending on the number of candidates and their combinations, it is held over a few days in two or three shifts. At a set time, all three shifts will begin. A candidate can chose to select just the exam's component parts.

Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) Results –

The result is declared on the official website of NTA. Universities can utilize the results as per their eligibility criteria/norms/applicable regulations/guidelines/rules. The details of candidates will be shared with all participating universities/ institutions. The scorecard is valid for admission to the particular academic year only.

The mere act of participating in CUET UG does not grant the candidate admission rights to the desired university. Selection and admission are subject to fulfillment of all prerequisites set forth by the institution, including those related to eligibility, medical fitness, placement on the merit list, original document verification, and admission.

Each of the Central Universities (CUs) manages admissions for the programs that they provide. After NTA, the respective CUs declare the result declare the counselling/ admission schedule and merit list based on the CUET UG score and the other criteria of the respective University.
