M.Tech VLSI Design
Very Large-Scale Integration (VLSI) design is a process of designing integrated circuits (ICs) by integrating thousands, millions or even billions of transistors on a single chip. M Tech VLSI Design through WILP is a specialized course where students gain knowledge and practical skills in designing integrated circuits and systems. The course duration depends on the institution offering the program and its structure. Such programs usually have a duration of around 2 to 3 years.
The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including –
- Digital design
- Analog design
- Semiconductor technology
- Computer-aided design (CAD) tools for VLSI, system-on-chip (SoC) design
- ASIC/FPGA design
- Verification techniques and advanced topics like low-power design and mixed-signal design
The Main Highlights
- Practical experience is the main aspect of the course. Students engage in laboratory work where they get to design, simulate, and prototype VLSI circuits using industry-standard tools such as Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics, etc.
- Students work on individual or group projects related to VLSI design. These projects could range from designing specific VLSI components or systems to tackling broader challenges in the field.
M.Tech VLSI Design Work Integrated Learning Program (WILP) Eligibility
- The students must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology in relevant disciplines such as Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, etc.
- Some colleges may require a minimum percentage or CGPA in the undergraduate degree, around 50% or above.
- The course is designed for working professionals, so students need relevant work experience in the field.
