Andra Pradesh open Board is one of India's top open school boards with ample access to sustainable student-centric quality education, training, and skill up-gradation to learners by using methodologies and innovative technologies of Distance and Open Learning.Andhra Pradesh Open School Society was established on 20th February 1991 to cater to the needs of the boys and girls who had to drop out of formal education due to any reason or could not attend schools due to any circumstances."Be Educated and Be Empowered"is the motto of the Andhra Pradesh Open School Society.

Andhra Pradesh Open School Society provides education up to the intermediate level, i.e., pre-graduation, and aims to use innovative technology to make any student part of the open Board just as capable if not more than any other student to compete in the world along with the best students. This top open Board of India provides ample access to sustainable learner-centric quality school education, skill up-gradation, and training to learners. It will grant opportunities to students who have missed opportunities to complete their school and get a well-rounded education.,

Recognition

In 2008, the government of Andhra Pradesh revamped the Open School System. It started an open basic education program of A, B, and C levels equivalent to 3rd,5th, and 8th grade of the formal education and school system. This was started alongside the already existent SSC(Secondary) program for the 14+ age group learners in the open and distance learning mode.

In 2010Andhra Pradesh Open School Society started the intermediate program under the Open and Distance learning mode for students who had passed the Secondary program and were of the 15+ age group. All the certificates issued by the Andhra Pradesh Open School Society are backed by the government of Andhra Pradesh and are thus valid all across India and the world for Higher education and employment.

The Chief Secretary of the Government of Andhra Pradesh acts as the Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Open School Society. In contrast, the Secretary to Government of Andhra Pradesh Education Department is the Vice Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Open School Society.The Director ofAndhra Pradesh Open School Society is the Member Secretary at the State level. The District Collector functions as Chairman and the District Educational Officer acting as Member Secretary at District Level to the Andhra Pradesh Open School Society and District Executive Boards. The Andhra Pradesh Open School Society carries out its programs through a network of study centers (A.I. centers) identified in Government /Local Body/Recognized High Schools and Junior Colleges. The Open Board Education program of Level 'A'&'B' shall partner with the Department of Adult Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh.
