Industrial Engineering
The course is designed for working professionals to equip students with advanced knowledge and skills in industrial engineering while allowing them to continue working in their respective fields. It usually spans over two to three years, depending on the specific curriculum. The curriculum provides in-depth knowledge of industrial engineering principles, methodologies, and tools. Courses typically cover subjects such as operations research, production planning and control, supply chain management, quality engineering, optimization techniques, project management, and lean manufacturing.
The WILP program allows students to apply their learning directly to their current workplace. The project could involve working on real-world industrial engineering projects, implementing process improvements, or addressing challenges within their organization under the guidance of faculty mentors. In many cases, students are required to complete a thesis or a project as a culmination of their degree. This project typically involves original research or a practical application of industrial engineering principles to solve a significant problem in the field. The students need to complete all the semesters to be eligible for the award of a degree.
The admission process varies institution-wise. Some private universities take their entrance test for admission, while some take admission on a merit basis. Many institutions demand cut-off marks followed by interviews. The eligibility criteria help the institutes prepare the list of qualifying students based on the number of seats available.
