1. Introduction to GATE 2025 Examination
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2025 Examination), a national examination, assesses applicants' understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering, Technology, Science, and Architecture, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate subjects in Commerce, Arts, Humanities, and Science.
On behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (in Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, and Roorkee) jointly administer the GATE.
GATE 2025 will be conducted for 30 subjects and would be distributed over 1st, 2nd, 15th, and 16th February 2025. It will be conducted in several cities across India. The examination would be a Computer Based Test (CBT).
Qualifying in the GATE 2025 Examination is a mandatory requirement for seeking admission and/or financial assistance to –
- Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture
- Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Arts and Science, in the institutions supported by the MoE and other Government agencies.
2. Eligibility Criteria for the GATE 2025 Examination
An applicant who is currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program or who has already completed any government-approved degree program in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts/Humanities is eligible for appearing in the GATE 2025 examination.

5. Admit Card for GATE 2025 Examination
Applicants can download the GATE admit card 2025 from the website starting from 2nd January 2025. Admit Cards will not be sent by post or as an e-mail attachment. Applicants must bring a printout of the downloaded Admit Card on A4-sized paper to the examination for verification, along with the original and valid photo identity document. It is valid if and only if the candidate's photograph and signature images are clear and legible.
6. Understanding the GATE 2025 Examination Results
After the evaluation of the answers, the actual (raw) marks obtained by an applicant will be considered for computing the GATE Score. For multi-session test papers, raw marks obtained by the applicants in different sessions will be converted to normalised marks for that particular subject. Thus, raw marks (for single-session test papers) or normalised marks (for multi-session test papers) will be used for computing the GATE Score, based on the qualifying marks.
The GATE result 2025 will be announced on the GATE 2025 website. The score is valid for 3 years from the date of announcement of the results. After the declaration of results, GATE 2025 scorecards of the qualified applicants can be downloaded free of cost between 28th March to 31st May 2025 from the GATE 2025 website.
