NEET 2024: Know Eligibility, Syllabus, Registration and Preparation Tips


Introduction

On February 9, 2024 the NEET 2024 exam link went live by the National Testing Agency NTA released official notification for NEET Application Form on their official website www.exam.nta.ac.in. The last date to submit online application form for NEET 2024 Registration is March 9, 2024

Eligibility for NEET Exam:

NEET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

NEET 2024 eligibility criteria includes age, qualifying marks, nationality must be fulfilled by the candidates to register for the exam. Below mentioned are the detailed eligibility criteria:

    • Qualifying Marks in Class 12th Boards: Require minimum of 50% marks (40% marks for SC/ ST/ OBC) in PCB + English. Those with PCM plus biology as an additional subject can also apply.

    • NEET attempt limit: No restriction on the number of times you can take NEET exam. As long as you fulfill the minimum eligibility, you can attempt NEET every year.

    • NEET 2024 age limit: Minimum 17 years of age before December 31, 2024. There is no upper age limit to apply for NEET UG exam.

    • Nationality: Indian nationals, OCIs, NRIs, foreign national are eligible for NEET examination. Moreover, OCI/ NRI/ Foreign nationals are now eligible for admission to all medical/ dental seats in India.

Candidates qualifying the eligibility criteria can access NEET 2024 Application Form online at exams.nta.ac.in/NEET. NTA has now allowed candidates with biology as an additional subject to appear for NEET 2024. There is no age limit for NEET 2024. Also, there is no limit on the number of attempts.

NEET 2024 Syllabus

NEET 2024 syllabus is released by the NTA. The syllabus has been reduced this year from 97 chapters to 79 chapters. The high weightage chapters for NEET 2024 include physical chemistry, organic chemistry, and inorganic chemistry along with Biology and Physics.Biology syllabus touches topics like Diversity in Living World , Cell Structure and Functions, Plant Physiology, Human Physiology, Biotechnology and Its Applications etc

NEET examination consists of 180 questions to be attempted in 200 minutes. The total marks are 720. NEET exam cut off varies from 138-720 for general candidates where as cut off for the reserved categories is137-107.

NEET UG is the national-level entrance test for admission to MBBS and BDS colleges in India. It is the most prestigious examination conducted at national level for students to wish to aspire to be a Doctor in India.There are 1,08,915 seats available for MBBS,27,868 BDS seats and 52,720 seats for (BAMS/ BSMS/ BUMS/ BHMS) which are other branches. Currently there are 700+ medical colleges. Candidates with high score marks are called for Counselling by the Medical Counselling Committee.
