NEET PG: Know Registration Process, Eligibility, Exam Details, Results


National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test – PG (NEET PG)

NEET-PG is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination which is the single entrance examination for admission to various MD/MS and PG Diploma Courses. No other entrance examinations, either at the state or the Institution level are valid for entry to MD/MS/PG Diploma courses.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) conducts the exam annually across various centres in India. The only tasks assigned to NBEMS are administering the NEET-PG, announcing the results, and giving the results to the authorized counseling authority. It has no role in counselling or allotment of PG seats.

NEET PG Application Process

    • Candidates are required to create an online profile to generate a User ID and Password. The User ID and Password will allow the candidate to log in as an applicant for NEET-PG for the particular session and register an online application.
    • Applications can only be submitted online through the NBEMS website.
    • A candidate can submit NEET-PG application form only once.
    • Candidates' applications containing false or fabricated records are considered, and such candidates are debarred from appearing in future examinations of NBEMS.
    • Submission of an incomplete online application form not in accordance with prescribed instructions invites rejection of the application.
    • Along with the application form, the candidates need to pay the registration pay.
    • An acknowledgement email is sent to the registered email ID confirming the submission of an application by the candidate.
    • The candidates are given an opportunity to edit the information filled in the application.
    • Candidates who fail to submit duly completed applications with requisite documents and/or fail to rectify the deficiencies in their applications by the last date prescribed for rectification are declared ineligible.

NEET PG Eligibility Criteria

    • Candidates in possession of an MBBS degree or Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate are recognized as per the provisions of the NMC Act, 2019, and the repealed Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
    • Candidates must possess a permanent or provisional registration certificate of MBBS qualification issued by the NMC/ the erstwhile Medical Council of India or State Medical Council.
    • The candidate should have completed 1-year internship.

NEET PG Eligibility Criteria For Foreign Nationals

The basic Medical Qualification equivalent to MBBS should be recognized by the National Medical Commission.

NEET PG Exam

    • NEET PG is a computer-based examination conducted on the prescribed date. It is conducted in a single day and single session.
    • A demo test is available on the NBEMS website for candidates to have brief idea about Computer-Based Test format.
    • Subjects and knowledge areas covered in the exam syllabus will be determined by the Graduate Medical Education Regulations, which were established by the former Medical Council of India with prior approval from the Indian government.
    • The examination is conducted using multiple-choice questions delivered using computer networks (CBT) as per the prescribed scheme.
    • Negative marking is there for incorrect questions.

NEET PG Admit Card

Admit cards are made available on the NBEMS website. They are not issued to candidates who are declared ineligible before the examination. Candidates are informed through SMS/Email alerts and website notices regarding the availability of the admit card on the NBEMS website. It is necessary for applicants to obtain their admission card through the NBEMS website and securely attach a current passport-sized photo.

NEET PG Test Day Procedure

The exact address and location of the test centres are indicated on the admit card. As stated on their admit cards, candidates must report to the test site's reporting counter at the designated hour. Those reporting late or beyond the prescribed time are not allowed to appear in the exam under any circumstances.

The candidates need to bring the following documents during the exam –

    • Printed copy of Barcoded/QR Coded Admit card.
    • Photocopy of Permanent / Provisional SMC/MCI/NMC registration.
    • Any one of the ID proofs PAN Card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card.

NEET PG Tiebreaker Criteria

    • Candidates having a greater number of correct responses in the question paper will be placed in a better merit position.
    • Candidates having a lesser number of negative responses in the question paper will be placed in a better merit position.
    • Older candidates are placed in better merit positions.

NEET PG Results

The results are released on the NBEMS website. Candidates can download their scorecards from the NBEMS website using their login credentials. The results are valid for the current admission session.

NEET PG Merit List

A merit list is prepared based on rank. The candidate's rank represents their total merit standing out of all the applicants that took the NEET-PG for that particular year.
