Introduction to JEE Advanced 2025
The Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced (JEE Advanced 2025) is a highly competitive national-level engineering entrance exam conducted annually in India. For 2025, JEE Advanced will be held on May 18, 2025, by IIT Kanpur. This exam serves as the gateway to prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other top engineering institutions, offering undergraduate courses. It is renowned for its challenging nature, requiring rigorous preparation and dedication from aspiring students. It is a crucial step for those seeking admission to the esteemed IITs and other leading engineering colleges in India.
The JEE Advanced 2025 will be conducted by the seven Zonal Coordinating IITs under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board 2025 (JAB 2025). The performance of a candidate in this will form the basis for admission to the Bachelors, Integrated Masters, and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level). The decisions of JAB 2025 will be final in all matters related to JEE Advanced 2025 and admission to IITs in the academic year 2025-26.
JEE Advance 2025 Academic Programs
In engineering, science, or architecture, IITs offer admission to undergraduate programs through JEE Advanced that lead to a Bachelor's, Integrated Masters, or Bachelor-Master Dual Degree. Candidates enrolled in the dual degree programs receive both Bachelor's and Master's degrees after successfully completing the course curriculum requirements.

JEE Advance 2025 Eligibility Criteria
- Performance in JEE (Main) 2025 – Candidates should be among the top 250000 successful candidates (including all categories) in the B.E./B.Tech paper of JEE (Main) 2025.
- The percentages of various categories of candidates to be shortlisted are: 10% for GEN-EWS, 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, and the remaining 40.5% is OPEN for all. Within each of these five categories, 5% horizontal reservation is available for PwD candidates.
- Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 2000. Five years age relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates, i.e., these candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1995.
- A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.
- A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2024 or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
- A candidate should not have been admitted to an IIT under any academic program that is listed in JoSAA Business Rules of 2024, irrespective of whether or not the candidate continued in the program or accepted an IIT seat by reporting “online”/at a “reporting centre” in the past.
- Candidates who have been admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2024 can appear in JEE (Advanced) 2025.

For foreign national candidates and OCI/PIO (F)
- The foreign national candidates, at the time of registering for JEE (Advanced) 2025, are not required to write JEE (Main) 2025 and may register for JEE (Advanced) 2025 directly, subject to fulfilment of other eligibility criteria.
- Candidates who are (i) not citizens of India (by birth or naturalized) and (ii) OCI/PIO (F) candidates, who have studied or are studying in INDIA/ABROAD at 10+2 level or equivalent at the time of registering for JEE (Advanced) 2025, must simultaneously fulfil each and every one of the following four criteria (Criterion B1 to B4) to appear for JEE (Advanced) 2025.
- Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 2000.
- A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.
- A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2024 or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
- A candidate should not have been admitted to an IIT under any academic program that is listed in JoSAA Business Rules of 2024.
JEE Advance 2025 Application Process
- Log in using JEE Main 2025 details.
- Fill out the application form with required details.
- Upload scanned documents as per specifications.
- Pay the application fee online.
- Download and print the registration receipt.
JEE Advance 2025 Admit Card
Candidates who successfully register for JEE Advanced 2025 can download the admit card from the online registration portal: https://jeeadv.ac.in. The admit card will contain the following details about the candidate: Name, Roll number for JEE Advanced 2025, JEE (Main) Application Number, photograph, signature, date of birth, address for correspondence, and category. In addition, the admit card will have the name and address of the examination centre allotted to the candidate.
JEE Advanced 2025 Exam Pattern
- JEE Advanced 2025 will consist of two question papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2 of three hours duration each. Appearing for both papers is mandatory.
- Each question paper will consist of three separate sections, viz., Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- The question papers will consist of questions designed to test the comprehension, reasoning, and analytical ability of candidates.
- Negative marks may be awarded for incorrect answers for some of the questions. Details of the marking scheme will be provided in the “Instructions to Candidates” section at the time of examination.
- The question papers will be in both English and Hindi languages. The candidates will have the option to choose (and also switch between) the preferred language anytime during the examination.
- The JEE Advanced 2025 examination will be conducted only in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.
JEE Advance 2025 Rank List
Only candidates who appear for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be considered for ranking. Rank lists are prepared based on the aggregate marks in JEE Advanced 2025.

JEE Advance 2025 Tie Breaker
The following tie-break procedure will be applied for allocating ranks if the total scores of two or more applicants are identical -
- Candidates having higher positive marks will be awarded a higher rank.
- The candidate who has received higher marks in mathematics will be given a higher rank. The candidate with the higher Physics score will be given a higher rank if this does not break the tie. Candidates will be given the same rank if there is still a tie after this.
JEE Advance 2025 Results
By category following the announcement of the results, the JEE Advanced 2025 web platform will provide the All India Ranks (AIR) of the qualified applicants. Additionally, the candidates' registered cell sphone numbers will receive text notifications. Candidates will not receive individual rank cards.
