Introduction
Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry (JIPMER), run by the Government of India, is one of India's leading medical institutions. The Government of India laid the foundation for a new medical college in 1956 and inaugurated a hospital in 1964. An Act of Parliament in 2008 declared JIPMER, Puducherry, an "Institution of National Importance." This institute's establishment aims to provide teaching, research, and patient care in the field of health.
JIPMER has one administrative block, one academic centre, one nursing college, seven hospital blocks, seven accessory services buildings, and four residential complexes. JIPMER conducts 12 broad types of medical, nursing, and allied health science courses, covering all healthcare disciplines from basic to super specialty training. The Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences is a full-time, 4-year course with 3.5 years of theory and practical classes, as well as 6 months of compulsory internship. All other BSc Allied Health Sciences courses are full-time (4 years course with 3 years of theory & practical classes and 1 year of compulsory internship.

JIPMER counseling and admission
JIPMER conducts in-person counseling for admission to paramedical courses. At the time of declaring the eligible candidate list, JIPMER publishes the counseling details on its website. Candidates whose names are on the eligible list reporting at the counseling venue within the stipulated time and whose certificates in original are verified and found to be in order are allowed to participate in the counseling.
