ICAR AIEEA: PG Registration, Syllabus, Exam Pattern and Preparation Tips
1. Introduction to ICAR AIEEA PG –
The ICAR AIEEA PG (All India Entrance Examination for Admission – Postgraduate) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to 25% of seats in Master’s programs (MSc/MVSc) at accredited agricultural universities and 100% of seats at ICAR-Deemed Universities like IARI, IVRI, and NDRI. This exam serves as the gateway to advanced studies in agriculture, veterinary sciences, and allied disciplines, offering opportunities for specialization in fields such as agronomy, plant pathology, animal nutrition, and biotechnology.
The ICAR is the Apex Body for coordinating, guiding, and managing research and education in agriculture in the entire country under the aegis of the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
2. Eligibility Criteria for ICAR AIEEA PG –
- Only the candidates having passed graduation with a four/six-year (12+4/10+6 BSc Ag./BTech)/five-year (BVSc & AH)/5½-year (BVSc & AH) degree program are eligible.
- Equivalence of Degrees is decided by the admitting university only.
3. ICAR AIEEA PG Registration Process-
Candidates must keep the following information ready before filling out the online application form –
- Govt. Identity Details like Aadhaar Number / Passport number / Ration Card Number / Bank Account Number / PAN Number / Other valid Govt. Ids.
- Address for communication, Mobile Number, email ID, etc.
- Scanned images of the latest Photograph (size of 10 kb to 200 kb) in JPG format only.
- Scanned image of Signature (size of 4 kb to 30 kb) in JPG format only.
- Scanned image of Thumb impression (Male-Left, Female-Right, size of 3kb to 30 kb) in JPG format only.
- Bank Account details for payment of Fee, for uploading as part of submission of online application.
4. Application process -
- The entire application process for ICAR AIEEA PG is carried out online.
- The candidates need to complete the AIEEA PG registration by submitting the online form using a unique e-mail ID and mobile number through the official website—https://exams.nta.ac.in/ICAR/.
- They need to fill in the online ICAR PG application form and note down the system-generated application no.
- During the application process, the candidate needs to pay the prescribed application fee online through Debit Card / Credit Card/ Net-Banking / UPI and keep proof of fee paid. Application fees vary for General/Unreserved, OBC-NCL/UPS/EWS, and SC/ST/PwBD/Third Gender candidates. The details are released in the prospectus.
- They need to download, save, and print copies of the confirmation page after successful remittance of the fee and keep copies safely for future reference.
Note -
- The final submission of the online application form for the ICAR PG entrance exam will remain incomplete if the application fee is not paid. Such forms will stand rejected, and no correspondence on this account will be entertained by NTA.
- Candidates must be careful while entering their e-mail address and phone number in the Application Form, because this e-mail address and phone number may be used by the NTA and ICAR for future communication.
- The candidate is not required to give any option for Agricultural Universities for admission at the time of filling up the online application form.

6. ICAR AIEEA PG Admit Card –
The admit card for the ICAR AIEEA PG exam is issued provisionally to the candidates, subject to their satisfying the eligibility conditions. The candidate will have to download the admit card from the NTA website as specified in the schedule and appear for the examination at the given center strictly as per the date and shift (timing) indicated on the admit card.
ICAR AIEEA PG Display of Question Paper and Provisional Answer key for Challenges –
The NTA will display provisional answer keys of the questions along with the question papers attempted by the respective Candidates on the NTA website to provide an opportunity to the interested candidates to challenge the Answer Key (if any). The candidates will be given an opportunity to make a challenge online against the answer key by paying a non-refundable fee prescribed as processing fees. The NTA will also display the recorded responses of all the candidates on its website prior to the declaration of results.
7. ICAR AIEEA PG Result Declaration –
Overall Merit/Rank List will be prepared by ICAR separately for every major subject. In the event of candidates getting equal marks in the Entrance Examination, relative/inter se Merit will be determined in the following order –
- The candidate scoring less negative marks will be rated higher in merit.
- The candidate higher in age would be rated higher in merit.
- The candidate with a higher score in percentage/CGPA in the Class XII examination would be rated higher in merit.
- The final result will be displayed on the NTA website.
8. ICAR AIEEA PG Counselling Process –
The admission/allotment of seats will be made through online counseling on the basis of the sub-subject opted by the candidates at the time of registration for counseling and depending upon the availability of seats at their merit rank in the opted major subject group and fulfillment of other eligibility requirements. The schedule for online counseling will be notified separately on the ICAR website (www.icar.org.in) after the declaration of results.
