IIT Jammu – The Jewel of North

Introduction

There are currently two locations where students may take classes at the IIT Jammu. Its former location in Jagti village, Nagrota, is no longer its centre of academic activity. Its main campus has an area of around 400 acres. It is now possible for BTech and MTech students to use all of Phase 1 A of the main campus. While development continues on both 1B and 1C of Phase 1. Additionally, a world-class research centre for PhD researchers is now being constructed on the Paloura site. Both campuses provide easy access to Jammu city and are well furnished.

IIT Jammu is a technological institute of the third generation that was founded following the "Institutes of Technology Act." The institution offers Bachelor of Technology (BTech), Master of Technology (MTech), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees, and it has more than 650 students currently enrolled. The IIT Jammu Bachelor of Technology programme is the flagship degree and is available in six subfields of study. The JEE Advanced test and the JoSAA counselling process are both required steps in the admissions procedure for the four-year Bachelor of Technology degree.

Applicants to the programme are required to have a JEE rank that falls anywhere in the range of 3671 to 14983. The total cost of the Bachelor of Technology programme at IIT Jammu is 4.84 Lakhs Indian Rupees. IIT Jammu and IIM Jammu have formed a partnership to provide a dual degree B.Tech-MBA and MBA (HA & HM) programme. This is being done to facilitate the implementation of NEP 2020.

Students who have completed eight semesters of their BTech degree at IIT Jammu are eligible to transfer into the MBA programme without having to submit a CAT score. The length of the dual-degree programme at IIT Jammu will be 4+2 years, at the end of which students will get degrees in BTech and MBA from both IIT and IIM Jammu.

IIT Jammu Courses

Currently, the institution provides B.Tech, B.Tech-MBA, M.Tech, and PhD degrees. At the undergraduate level, the 4-year completely residential B.Tech degree is provided with six specialities. Candidates earning a B.Tech degree may also enrol in IIM Jammu's MBA programme during their last year of study. This transfer will result in their receiving a B.Tech and an MBA. At the postgraduate level, the institution offers a two-year M.Tech programme with a specialisation in six fields. IIT Jammu, on the other hand, provides PhD degrees at the doctoral level. IIT Jammu BTech

The BTech programme at IIT Jammu may accept a maximum of 240 students per year. Approximately twenty per cent of these slots are set aside for students who want to pursue a dual degree in Business Technology and Management. IIT Jammu has established a department of Biosciences and Bioengineering to broaden the scope of its primary fields of study and instruction (BSBE). In the first year of the BTech programme, students now have the opportunity to choose either a required course in biology or a minor in BSBE. The criteria for admission to the newly introduced branch are the same as those for the previous branches, namely a high score on the JEE Advanced exam and participation in JoSAA counselling.

IIT Jammu MTech

IIT Jammu also offers a very prestigious Master of Technology degree. It is available in a total of six distinct specialities. IIT Jammu requires a total tuition payment of INR 1.39 Lakhs for the Master of Technology degree. The GATE admission scores will determine who gets accepted into the programme. The COAP counselling procedure is used to determine the final seat allocation that will be given out.

Candidates must have a GATE score between 340 and 770 to be considered for admission. The CSE stream is one of the most popular choices among all of the departments. The Master of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering degree may be further subdivided into two subfields of study: MTech in Data Science and MTech in Information Technology. The minimum required score for each of these classes is much higher than that of other departments. 776 is the bare minimum score necessary on the GATE to get admission.

IIT Jammu Scholarships

The stipends and scholarships for PhD students will be awarded in a manner that is compliant with the rules established by MHRD. The following is accurate for the time being:

• The monthly stipend that students get throughout the first two years of their degree programme is INR 31,000.
• The monthly stipend for students who are participating in the senior PhD fellows programme is INR 35,000.
